WVHCA’s mission is to advance the quality and professionalism that is essential to residents receiving long-term care services in our communities. We achieve this mission through education, advocacy, and leadership. We develop programs and services that bring value to our members and the public.

Incorporated in 1976, WVHCA is dedicated to helping maintain the high standards of licensed long-term care facilities. As the state’s largest long-term care trade association, we currently represent over 120 member nursing facilities, assisted living communities, and residential retirement centers. Members include privately owned, government operated, and nonprofit organizations.

We have two related organizations: the West Virginia Health Care Foundation and the West Virginia Long-Term Care Service Corporation.

WVHCA is headquartered in Charleston and is governed by a 17-member Board of Directors representing a cross-section of our membership. The general membership, which meets annually, elects the Board. The Chief Executive Officer of WVHCA oversees the day-to-day operations of the association.
