In November 2019, surveyors will begin reviewing and enforcing Phase 3 of the new Requirements of Participation related to compliance and ethics programs. This session will identify the req-uisite elements of a compliance program that will meet survey requirements, outline the skills and responsibilities of an effective compliance officer, and review practical strategies, preventative compliance, and risk mitigation.

• Identify the required components of a compliance program that will satisfy the skilled nursing facility Requirements of Participation in advance of survey enforcement
• Understand the key responsibilities and requisite skills for a skilled nursing facility com-pliance officer
• Identify strategies for preventative compliance and avoidance relating to significant risk areas
