Leah-Killian Smith (BA, NHA, RHIA), Director of Corporate Accounts with Pathway Health, will provide guidance for long-term care staff members who care for residents with a history of substance abuse.

Learning Objectives:

• Recognize signs of progressive addiction and drug misuse in older adults
• Identify helpful management tools to manage compliance with residents who may use drugs or alcohol while a resident
• Learn how to identify chemical use in older adults and how to assist the resident with special ser-vices or treatment options


Leah Killian-Smith is Pathway Health’s Director of Quality and Government Services. With more than 25 years of experience in post-acute care, she has held a variety of leadership positions in long-term care organizations. She helps providers nationwide understand and follow regulations. She has a bachelor’s degree in health informatics from The College of St. Scholastica. She studied long-term care administration/management at the University of Minnesota and is a licensed nursing home administrator.
