Scholarship Programs

Since it was established in 1999, the West Virginia Health Care Foundation has awarded nearly $100,000 in Herman Conaway Scholarship to students working in member facilities. Through the generous contributions of members and associate members, the Long Term Care Golf Classic, and the support of the West Virginia Health Care Association and the West Virginia Long Term Care Service Corporation, the Foundation assists more students each year. Initially, this scholarship award was $500, but has been increased to $750 as gifts to the Foundation increase.

In 2009, the Foundation Scholarship Program received annual funding for a special “named” scholarship. The Serra Family Foundation has offered a scholarship of $2,250 each year to an outstanding and deserving student.

In 2009, the West Virginia Long Term Care Service Corporation awarded a $1,500 scholarship, making a second scholarship in a larger amount available.

The Foundation Scholarship Program encourages anyone benefitting from their affiliation with long term care to consider funding a scholarship that can be named after a loved one or a family. Scholarships are awarded to current employees of member facilities who are furthering their education to better serve the long term care profession.
