About Us
The West Virginia Health Care Association’s mission is to advance the quality and professionalism that is essential to residents receiving long-term care services in our communities. We achieve this mission through education, advocacy and leadership. We develop programs and services that bring value to our members and the public.
Incorporated in 1976, the West Virginia Health Care Association, Inc. (WVHCA) is dedicated to helping maintain the high standards of licensed long-term care facilities. As the state’s largest long term care trade association, we currently represent 135 member nursing facilities, assisted living communities and residential retirement centers. Members include privately-owned, government operated as well as nonprofit organizations.
We have two related organizations, the West Virginia Health Care Foundation and the West Virginia Long Term Care Service Corporation. Information on these organizations can be obtained from the home page of our website.
The WVHCA is headquartered in Charleston and is governed by a 17 member Board of Directors representing a cross-section of our membership. The Board is elected by the general membership which meets annually. The Chief Executive Officer of the WVHCA oversees the day-to-day operations of the association.
